The Happy Dutchmen perform in Kutztown July 21

The Happy Dutchmen German Band will perform at the Kutztown Optimist Club’s Community Appreciation Day on Saturday.

The Borough of Kutztown in conjunction with the Kutztown Optimist Club will be hosting The Happy Dutchmen German Band, as part of this year’s Borough of Kutztown’s 2011 Concert Series and the Kutztown Optimist Club’s Community Appreciation Day.Because of the association with the Community Appreciation Days, this concert will be held on the Main Stage at the Kutztown Fairgrounds from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on July 21.

The Happy Dutchmen German Band, under the direction of Bruce Rohrbach, has been performing locally for more than 40 years to promote the music of Germany and Bavaria. The band will entertain the crowd in authentic German period dress complete with Lederhosen and Alpine hats, while they entertain with various types of music from the standard German marches, to your favorite polka’s, waltzs and various other German dances. There will be several audience participation and sing-a-long songs.

The Kutztown Optimist Club hosts the annual Community Appreciation Day each year to show support, gratitude, and appreciation for the community and all they do to support the club throughout the year. The Optimist Club will have reasonable priced food and games available at the Kutztown Fairgrounds from 4 to 8 p.m., and The Happy Dutchmen German Band will entertain from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the Kutztown Fairgrounds Main Stage.

The concert is free to the public and is part of the Borough of Kutztown “2012 Concert Series” and the generosity of the Kutztown Optimist Club, as sponsor for this concert. The event will be held rain or shine under the covered Main Stage at the Fairgrounds.
