Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is hosting a free educational workshop designed to help protect participants from identity theft. Called “Identity Theft: What You Need to Know,” the 50 minute workshop will be held at 7p.m., Monday, Oct. 8, at New Bethel Church, 135 New Bethel Church Road, Kempton. The workshop is presented by Jennifer Weil, Financial Associate with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in Kutztown.
During the workshop, participants will learn what identity theft is, where and how a thief steals identities, the financial effects of this crime, and tips to help protect against identity theft. Participants will also learn what to do should they fall victim to identity theft.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission estimates that as many as 8 million Americans were victims of identity theft in 2010.
“Identity theft is a serious, growing concern,” said Weil. “This workshop offers practical information and tips to help people avoid falling victim to this crime.”
To register for this free workshop, call Pastor David Blitch at 610-756-6589 or Thrivent Financials Kutztown office at 610-683-3564 or email kelly.bond@thrivent.com.
Complimentary refreshments will be served at the workshop.
