This Saturday, Nov. 17, the Independent Space on Main Street in Kutztown will host an organic community five course dinner bringing together local farms and producers, local wine, music and the taste of a home brew, all for a good cause. As the community dines they feed others as 50 percent of the proceeds from this meal benefit the Greater Berks Food Bank in time for the holiday.
The scene is one repeated over in many fine restaurants, local musicians in the corner enjoyed whole heartedly close up and you can still see someone tapping their foot along in the distance, tables across the floor lined with rustic wooden chairs awaiting their taker, the greetings and conversations stopping only to taste the fine foods of the evening, but now, it all happens in the gallery.
All foods are from surrounding organic farms put together by local chef and caterer Pam Moseley of Wholesome Foods Catering, out of Alburtis. The farmers and producers involved are invited to the dinner as well! Some local participating farms include Primordia Mushroom Farm, Epic Acre Farm, Good Work Farm, Taproot Farm, and Rainbow Farm. There will be local wine from Blue Mountain Vineyards, local apple cider from County Line Orchard, a warm soup course from Soup Knozzi in Kutztown and a home brewing demonstration by Frank’s Home Brew with samples to taste.
This is a seasonal event the Space holds for their Members, only this time, it is an open community dinner benefiting the Greater Berks Food Bank. The Berks Food Bank has proven its ability to supply numerous local shelters and surrounding food banks with much needed supplies and for every $1 donated, the GBFB can acquire $20 of food through its supply network.
In this holiday season, find a place of warmth, good food, community and gather for a good cause in downtown Kutztown!
Dinner is this Saturday, Nov. 17th at 7 p.m. Live fiddle and a complimentary glass of local wine is included with the dinner.
Cost per person, children 7 and under are free.
