Kutztown Community Library Storytimes

StoryRiders preschool storytimes for ages 0 to 5. Barbara Hughes leads stories, songs, fingerplays and a craft at a new date and time, Wednesdays at 11 a.m.

Baby Lapsit Storytimes are held on Mondays at 11 a.m. and Thursdays at 10 a.m.

Kutztown High School Leo Club Collection

Accepting all gently used books, magazines, CDs, LPs, cassettes, DVDs, VHS tapes and assorted media for their spring sale. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. No encyclopedias. Accepting Harlequins and Danielle Steeles. Drop off donations at the high school office.

Kutztown Community Thanksgiving Dinner

at St. John’s UCC on the corner of Whiteoak and Walnut streets, Kutztown. Dinner is free to everyone and anyone in the community, provided by local businesses, churches and volunteers and served from 12 to 2 p.m. All invited. Brandywine Heights Feed a Starving Artist

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brandywine Heights High School Cafeteria. Free. Arts and crafts show and sale. Live entertainment all day. Homemade soups and apple dumplings, eat in or take out. Little Crafters Workshops for ages 3 to adult.

Sunshine Players Present: The Big Bad Bullysaurus

Kutztown University’s non-profit student-run organization, Sunshine Players presents the play The Big Bad Bullysaurus directed by KU Communications student, Stephanie Shober. Synopsis: When Mark, a paleontologist, learns his niece, Natalie, has been bullied he decides to share with her a story. Ryan Rex Jr., the dinosaur, experiences a similar bullying situation thanks to the new kid in class, Billy Bullysaurus. With the help of his friends, Ryan and Natalie both learn a valuable lesson regarding the issue of bullying in a healthy way. Show dates are Dec. 1 and 2 at 2 p.m. in the Rickenbach Theatre at Kutztown University. Free.

Santa’s Workshop and Craft Fair, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Kempton Fire Co. Food, bake sale, basket raffle, Chinese auction, “Secret” shopping for kids and 20+ vendors. Santa from 12-2 p.m. Sponsored by Albany/Greenwich PTO.

St. Paul’s Women’s Guild Christmas Bazaar

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s U.C.C., 47 South Whiteoak St., Kutztown. Includes Christmas mice, baked goods, ornaments, cookies, crafts, food, eat-in or take out, decorations, white elephant. Call 610-683-3393.

Christmas Breakfast with Friends

8-11 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kutztown. The breakfast will feature all-you-can-eat pancakes. Plus a serving of sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, juice, and coffee. Only pancakes are all-you-can-eat. Children 3 and under are free. Bring two non-perishable items to be donated to Friend, Inc., and $1 will be deducted from an adult breakfast.

The Friends of the Kutztown Community Library 2012 Holiday Tour Extraordinaire 12:30 to 5 p.m. Focus this year is the little old country village of New Smithville. Tour nationally recognized car museum Old Spokes Auto Museum and the O. J. Fritz Showroom and Garage. Hudson cars including a 1926 limousine, a 1934 Hudson 8 Roadster, a 1941 Woodie Wagon and many more. Guided tours at 12:30, 2 and 3:30 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres served.

Touring “Oakwood Acres” which includes a 1810 manor house, a large hex-painted barn and a Victorian home, dated 1865, decorated for the holidays by Jackie and Daughter, and decorations and other gifts will be available for purchase.

Pinnacle Ridge Winery free wine tasting and local wines available for purchase.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Library or at Jackie and Daughter on Main Street in Kutztown or on the day of the tour at Old Spokes Auto Museum, 10399 Old Rt 22, New Smithville. Kutztown Senior Citizen’s Dinner

5 p.m. at Kutztown Grange Hall, doors opening at 4. Entertainment and awards after dinner. All Senior Citizens, age 75 and older residing within the Borough of Kutztown, invited to attend free of charge. Those who attended last year’s dinner will receive a call from the Optimist Club. Kutztown residents who have reached 75 and never attended should contact Andy Schlegel at 610-683-3743. May bring a guest who is not age 75 or does not live in the Borough, however guest will be asked to pay $12 for meal. Transportation available upon request.

Country Christmas Open House
3 to 6 p.m. at Huff’s Church. Christmas music performed on a variety of instruments by a variety of choirs and soloists, a Christmas carol sing along, a scavenger hunt, an opportunity to dress up and have photo taken with the nativity scene, seasonal decorations, refreshments and more. Huff’s Church is located on the corner of Conrad Road and Huff’s Church Road in Hereford Township, 3 miles north of Route 100 in the village of Huff’s Church.

Dec. 15
Live, interactive nativity

6 to 8 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 W. Main Street, Kutztown. Along with mission partner, Hope Lutheran Church, Reading, the streets of Bethlehem will come alive as it was over 2,000 years ago. Families will hear, smell and taste what life was like when Jesus was born. Bethlehem will be bustling with census takers, bread bakers and Roman soldiers. Innkeepers will offer rooms to those coming for the census. Children will be able to touch their surroundings and talk with the people of Bethlehem. Live animals, games, crafts and food. Geared towards people of all ages, especially children. This is an outreach, extended to all in the community, regardless of faith or denomination.
