Former Kutztown teacher celebrates 100th birthday

Ethel Frances Ringer Risley celebrated her 100th birthday on Dec. 12.

For many years, Mrs. Risley lived in Kutztown with her husband Walt Risley, who taught and coached at Kutztown University. Ethel taught kindergarten at Kutztown Elementary from 1955 until she retired in 1978.

She was active in the Kutztown Library, Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Kutztown Women’s Club, and she is a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Ethel has two children, Walt Risley Jr. and Linda Risley Yoder, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
