Kutztown University
Taylor Shupp, a sophomore at Kutztown University and a team member at Chick-fil-A Exeter in Reading, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Chick-fil-A, Inc.

Shupp, a Reading native, began working at Chick-fil-A Exeter in September 2010 and is a friendly face in Chick-fil-A’s award-winning drive-thru. She is a daughter of Susan Shupp and Dennis Shupp and was homeschooled. She is studying elementary education/Pre-K and would like to teach in an urban school district upon graduation. She is active at her church, The Bridge in Shillington, where she teaches preschool and a third- and fourth-grade Awana class, as well as directs a music and drama group for kids.

“Taylor is a wonderful asset to our team here at Chick-fil-A Exeter,” said owner/operator Shawn Filby. “Her pleasant attitude is infectious and our regular guests know Taylor by name, as she has become part of their lives. We are thrilled that Chick-fil-A is able to help Taylor in her educational endeavors and I know she will be a wonderful teacher.”

Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy created the Team Member Scholarship Program in 1973 to recognize Chick-fil-A team members who showed promised in their education and in their positions at Chick-fil-A. In 1996, the program was changed to the Leadership Scholarship Program. According to the Council for Aid to Education, no other company in terms of size does as much in the area of scholarship than Chick-fil-A.

Through its Leadership Scholarship Program, Chick-fil-A has awarded more than $30 million to 28,000 team members who have attended nearly 3,200 colleges, universities and other educational institutions.
