Kutztown Mayor Sandy Green swore in student ambassadors on Jan. 15.
Green administered the Oath of Office to Colin Quinn to serve as Student Ambassador to Council and to Tayania Brown to serve as Student Ambassador to the Mayor.
Followed by the brief swearing in proceedings, Quinn and Brown joined Kutztown Borough Council members at the table prior to the start of the Council meeting.
In other news, Kutztown Borough Council approved the Water Treatment Plant Bond Issue and Ordinance. The ordinance authorizes and secures one or more series of General Obligation Bonds in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $12,200,000, according to the ordinance. The bond will refund Kutztown Borough’s General Obligation Note, Series a of 2001 which is federally taxable and currently refund Kutztown’s General Obligation Note, Series of 2008. Also the bond will be used to construct additions and improvements to the Borough Water System and will be used to purchase, acquire and construct other capital improvements and capital equipment to the extent of the remaining funds, according to the ordinance.
Also, in other news, Council approved the purchase of 50-year shingles for the new roof of the kitchen building in Kutztown Park. Council noted the difference in cost between 30-year shingles and 50-year shingles is $1,000.
Also, the following report vacancies: Kutztown Transportation Authority, Borough Planning Commission, Code Appeals Board, Housing License Appeals Board, Zoning Hearing Board, Environmental Advisory Commission, and the Telecommunications Advisory Commission.
